Newly launched resources make it easier for your customers’ employees to use benefits

February 9, 2018

Last month at the Consumer Electronic Show (CES) 2018, UnitedHealthcare debuted new digital health resources available for millions of people enrolled in employer-sponsored health plans. These include online and mobile resources and enhancements that make it easier and more convenient for your customers’ employees to navigate the health care system and use their benefits. These updates include:

Mobile wallets

Employees enrolled in health plans with an Optum Bank health savings account (HSA) now have access to Apple Pay®, providing people a secure and private way to pay for qualified medical expenses. The new capability offers consumers more convenience at health care providers’ offices and pharmacies, which can help save people time and facilitate payments to care providers. Employees are able to use Apple Pay now; compatibility with other mobile payment platforms will come later this year.

Video explanation of benefits

Most employees enrolled in UnitedHealthcare plans will be able to view personalized claims videos that help people better understand their benefits and what they owe following a covered medical service. The brief, personalized claims videos provide a step-by-step breakdown that shows exactly how each claim was processed and how much is owed. Employees will be able to access customized videos in early 2018 via desktop computers and mobile devices.
