New Mexico Housing Program Receives Economic Boost from UnitedHealthcare
February 7, 2012
Living a healthy life starts with access to affordable housing. That's why UnitedHealthcare recently partnered with Enterprise Community Investment, a national leader in affordable housing, to provide $22 million to finance three affordable-housing projects in New Mexico. The projects, which were announced in collaboration with New Mexico Gov. Susana Martinez, will improve affordable housing options in Santa Fe, Deming and Las Cruces. Special-needs households and families earning between 30 percent to 50 percent of the area median income will be served by these projects.
The investment is part of the broader UnitedHealthcare Group Affordable Housing Investment Program, which brings together one of the nation’s top health and well-being companies with one of the nation’s leading advocates for affordable housing to create housing opportunities for low- and moderate-income people. Through the partnership, the program will provide critical equity for the development of affordable rental housing projects to which housing tax credits have been allocated. UnitedHealth Group has committed up to $50 million to finance affordable-housing projects in targeted communities throughout the United States.
The announcement generated a slew of media coverage, including in the New Mexico Business Weekly.
